ROHNERT PARK, Calif. --- All the big movers and shakers at the Sonoma State Fall Invitational were wearing Biola Eagles gear during Tuesday's second round. Head Coach Jane Carr's group tied for the best team score of the day and moved past two other PacWest competitors to earn a third-place finish at the tournament.

Three Eagles also moved up 15 spots or more on the individual leaderboard, resulting in two top-10 finishes for Biola while BU played at least six strokes better on the day than the other four PacWest programs in the field. Biola (314-301) finished the Invitational nine strokes back of second-place Academy of Art (297-309), but two shots ahead of Holy Names (307-310) and three in front of Point Loma (311-307). 

Host Sonoma State won the tournament with the only sub-600 team score after 36 holes, while PLNU's Alli Kim edged the second-place golfer by a single stroke to take the individual title. 

Jules Loibl and Sami Penor both earned top-10 finishes after completing their second round in 73 strokes. Loibl (78-73) moved up 17 places to finish in a tie for seventh while Penor (79-73) had the biggest improvement of anyone in the field on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for ninth after jumping 24 spots. 

Loibl was, once again, a model of determined consistency to close the tournament. Starting on the par-five 16, Loibl saved par on the first eight holes of her round and was even on the four par-five holes on Tuesday. She picked up a late birdie after a great opening shot on the 139-yard 13th hole and wrapped things up with two more par putts to finish the back nine in the red.

Penor was also -1 on the back nine and did a great job shaking off bogeys on her sixth and seventh holes. The Nevada-native responded by collecting a birdie and saving par eight times over her next nine holes en route to carding a 73. She recorded another birdie on her final hole of the tournament, the par-four 14, and posted a -1 mark on the 10 par-four holes during Tuesday's play.

Marcel Manalo (78-73) was the third Eagle to move up 15 spots on the individual leaderboard, shaving five strokes off of her first round score to place in a tie for 31st. Like Loibl and Penor, Manalo also had a strong back nine, recording a 37 (+1) over those holes, and used a birdie on seven to play even-par over her final six holes. 

The Eagles benefited from Sophia Karnazes' consistency for their fourth counting score, as Karnazes matched her first round by carding another 79 in the second playthrough. She finished the tournament in a tie for 37th place while Alexis Gopfert (78-86) finished in 51st place after contributing a counting score for Biola on Monday.

The Eagles will have a week off of team competition before they head to Hawaii for their next tournament. Biola will start the first round of the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate in Waikoloa on Monday October 28.
