LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The PacWest office gave weekly awards to Alex Lugo, Colie Martin and Madi Reeves on Monday after both Biola soccer programs went undefeated over their first two PacWest matches last week. 

Lugo and Reeves, who were both named Freshman of the Week in their respective sports, both earn the first weekly award of their collegiate careers. Martin takes PacWest Defender of the Week for the second time after she also earned the honor on October 16, 2017. 

Lugo was recognized because he scored his first collegiate goal in the third minute of Biola's 1-0 win over Dominican. The freshman midfielder worked an excellent give-and-go with Oscar Rubalcava on the left side of the penalty area and then beat the Penguins' keeper with his left foot to give Biola the early lead. It would be the only shot on goal of the first half for the Eagles.

Reeves also earned her Freshman of the Week's distinction for her work in a 1-0 shutout of the Penguins. The right back from West Covina played all 90 minutes for Biola and played a big role in a defensive effort that limited the home team to one shot on goal and a single cornerkick all match. 

Reeves also found a lot of success in the attacking half throughout the match and served the initial pass into the penalty area in the 79th minute that resulted in Sarah Yang's game-winning goal. 

Martin's week followed the same theme as Reeves with a bit more offensive punch. The senior left back was one of two Eagles to outshoot Holy Names all by herself, taking four shots and targeting three on goal on Thursday. Martin's goal on a blast from 25 yards out just before the end of the first half turned out to be the game-winner against the Hawks. And she continued to wreak havoc against the Dominican backline, helping Biola to its fifth and sixth-straight shutouts while taking a total four shots on goal last week. 

Biola Women's Soccer (5-3-1, 2-0 PacWest) and Men's Soccer (3-4-2, 1-0-1 PacWest) will defend their undefeated conference records at home on Thursday. The Eagles host the Academy of Art soccer teams at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
