Signing Announcement for Nathan Schwantes

Swim & Dive Adds Versatility With Schwantes

IM and breaststroke specialist from Central California commits.

January 10, 2019

CLOVIS, Calif. --- Biola Swim & Dive added some stroke variation with the addition of Nathan Schwantes, who swims primarily the IM and breaststroke events.

Schwantes is from a Biola feeder school, Buchanan High School, in Central California. He joins the Eagles after four years with the Bears.

"After visiting the campus and spending time with the team, I knew Biola was a great fit for me," said Schwantes. "I am looking forward to growing spiritually, academically, and athletically. I am excited to be a part of the swim program as it continues to advance under the direction of Coach Kauth."

He is an excellent student, who passed the AP tests in World History, Composition and Physics 1. He has a weighted grade point average of 4.0 and has been high honor roll every semester. Schwantes plans to study engineering/physics and Biola.

Schwantes qualified for the 2018 CIF Central Section DI Championship and placed eighth in the 200-yard IM and 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke. He swam his best 200-IM time (1:59.58) at that meet. His top 100-breaststroke time of 1:01.25 also came at that meet.

In addition to competing with the Bears, Schwantes has also competed with the Clovis Swim Club.

Catch Schwantes on campus and competing in Lansing Pool and across the street at SPLASH! beginning next fall.
