LA MIRADA, Calif. ---
Sierra Bauder was the PacWest Player of the Week and followed that effort with another strong week to earn conference defender of the week honors for this past weekend.
Bauder led Biola's defensive effort around the net with 15 blocks in 12 sets (1.36/set). She brought her season total in blocks up to 50 and rose into fourth in the conference standings in blocking. Her rate of 1.36 blocks-per-set for this week is far and above even the best blockers in the conference. Bauder's season-average is just under one block-per-set and the top blocker in the PWC has a 1.19 per-set average.
The senior middle blocker was able to use her blocking to help Biola sweep Chaminade on Monday night to hand the Silverswords their first loss of the season. She had six blocks in the two sets, which was her best single-match effort of the week. She added six more in the Eagles' five-set heartbreak on Thursday vs. Hawaii Hilo and finished up with three in BU's quick win over HPU on Saturday.
For the season Bauder has 46 block assists, which is the most in the PacWest Conference. She and the Eagles are back in action this week vs. Concordia Irvine at home on Wednesday night and at Fresno Pacific on Friday.
