Bauder Named PacWest Player of the Week

Sierra Bauder's phenomenal week is recognized as the best in the conference.

September 17, 2018

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Sierra Bauder was rewarded for a phenomenal week of matches against Point Loma, Holy Names and Academy of Art by earning the most recent PacWest Player of the Week honor.

She becomes the first Biola Volleyball player to win the award this season. It's the second time in her career that she's earned a PacWest weekly honor.

"Sierra kind of carried us this weekend. She was so efficient that any opportunity we had to set her we did," said Head Coach Aaron Seltzer. "Beyond that she's a phenomenal student-athlete and a big part of our team and we're excited for her."

Bauder took over the conference lead in hitting percentage by putting up some eye-popping numbers in the Eagles' first full week of PacWest play. The senior middle blocker led Biola to a 2-1 mark and hit almost .600 for the week.

Her most impressive performance came in the Eagles' final match of the week, a 3-0 win over Holy Names on Saturday. She had 15 kills in the three-set match and hit over .680, which was the best mark by any Biola hitter since Alyssa Mason back in the 2015 season.

She was first in the conference in kills-per-set this past week, second in kills, first in hitting percentage and fourth in blocks. She now leads the conference with a .452 hitting percentage this season.

She and the Eagles host three matches this week, beginning with a premier matchup tonight vs. Chaminade at 7:00 p.m.
