LA MIRADA, Calif. --- For the second year in a row, Biola Athletics ranks near the top of the PacWest Conference in D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement recognitions.
Biola student-athletes accounted for 69 of the 10,223 student-athletes recognized across the country. The Eagles' total allowed them to rank third in the PacWest, ranking behind only California Baptist (91) and Point Loma (75).
The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level. In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division II institution MUST BE a CURRENT dues-paying member of the D2 ADA.
- Also, the student-athlete must:
- have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work
- have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
The 69 honorees is up eight from the total number of awards earned by Biola through the 2016-17 academic year.
Biola Women's Soccer led all programs with 12 Academic Achievement awards in 2017-18. Eight of those 12 student-athletes are returning for the 2018-19 season.
