KATY, Texas --- Riley Manibog is looking to continue and build upon Biola Track & Field's long history of success in women's pole vault. She joins Head Coach Sean Henning's team after spending four varsity seasons at Katy High School in Texas.

"I chose Biola because of its emphasis on Faith," said Manibog. "I had gone on a lot of campus tours and seen lots of science programs that pushed secular ideas, but I was so impressed with the way the biology department here teaches that God is the reason behind everything."

Manibog qualified for regional competition all four years of her high school career and finished seventh during her freshman season. She was the area champion in 2015 and finished second in each of the following seasons.

She contributed greatly to the success of her team, helping KHS win the district championship in both 2015 and 2016. In 2017, Manibog was honored with the "Most Outstanding Field Event" honor within her program.

Manibog was an outstanding student, graduating with high honors. She plans to study biology (pre-med) and hopes to have a career as a missionary doctor or a medical researcher.

"Biola was the one school that really seemed to stress the idea that the only reason we do anything is for God. I also really wanted to be a part of Torrey (Honors Institute)."

Her cousin, Danae Manibog, was a freshman at Fresno Pacific during the 2017-18 school year. The other Manibog runs the 200m and 400m for the Sunbirds, and makes for an interesting storyline in advance of the next PacWest Conference championship.

In addition to competing in track & field, Riley also performs at a high level in the Crossfit community. She mentions that she comes from a very athletic family. Her grandpa was a Filipino Olympic wrestler and her father and brother also wrestled.
