SAN MATEO, Calif. --- Nicole Chang took 10 AP classes in high school and ended up as her class valedictorian all while spending four years swimming varsity for the San Mateo Bearcats and excelling in the pool.

She is a backstroke swimmer primarily and made it to CCS for the 100-backstroke and as a part of the medley relay each year during her high school career. The 200-medley relay she participated in qualified for the CIF State Championship meet and set a new school record. Chang swam the butterfly leg during that run. The next year the relat won the 2018 Peninsula Athletic League Championship with a swim of 1:50.27.

Chang joins a Biola Swim & Dive team that is on the rise as it enters its second season under Head Coach Ryan Kauth. The Eagles have already announced an incoming class of over 10 new swimmers with a litany of high school and club accomplishments under its belt. 

"I loved the campus and the atmosphere when I visited," said Chang.

Chang will enter Biola with her major undeclared, but she is leaning towards majoring in nursing. She expressed hopes of a career in the medical field in pediatrics, oncology nurse or nurse practitioner. 

Look for the Eagles in the pool when the 2018-19 swim season begins in October.
