LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Just a few days after Biola was honored with the most Academic All-PacWest honors of any conference institution, the Eagles' only non-PacWest sport roped in some remarkable academic honors of their own.

Biola Swim and Dive was recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America as Scholar All-American teams. Both the men and women's programs earned this recognition, with the men ranking seventh in all of NCAA Division II with a 3.41 team grade point average.

The women's team was also recognized for its team GPA of 3.42. The top-10 women's programs in NCAA Division II all had team marks of 3.61 and above, with Sioux Falls leading the way with a team GPA of 3.80. Pace University (N.Y.) had the best showing, with its women's team ranked second in DII and its men's team ranked third. Carson-Newman (Tenn.) was the only other school with both its teams inside of the top-10.

The CSCAA recognizes teams with the Scholar All-America Award for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. This year 476 teams earned the distinguished honor.

Not only did Head Coach Ryan Kauth's teams have a phenomenal year in the classroom, but they were also put out solid performances in the pool. Lisa Tixier won the conference swimmer of the year award and several conference championships, the team set 11 new school records and saw 50 lifetime bests by its student-athletes at the conference meet.

In addition to the team academic awards, Sammy Dammann picked up Google Cloud Academic All-America honors for her four-year GPA of 3.99 and her accomplishments in the pool. She joins Men's Soccer's Keaton Kerr as the only Biola student-athletes to earn Academic All-America honors in the Eagles' time as an NCAA Division II institution.

Dammann earned her academic honor in the at-large sport category, which includes swimming, lacrosse, golf, tennis, wrestling, men's volleyball, fencing, gymnastics, rowing, field hockey, skiing and beach volleyball. She landed a spot on the Academic All-America third team. There were 45 total female student-athletes honored.

It is Dammann's second consecutive season earning Academic All-America honors. Sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible to be named Google Cloud Academic All-Americans if they maintain a cumulative grade point average of higher than 3.30 and are a contributing member to their team's success. Fun fact: Sammy Dammann got married and now goes by Sammy Wichman. Congrats!
