Eagles To Open NCCAA Championships

Competition begins Thursday in Winona Lake, Indiana.

May 09, 2018

WINONA LAKE, Ind. --- Biola Track & Field brought a group of 13 student-athletes to Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana for the 2018 National Christian College Athletic Association Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The 28-team field competes at the Bernard and Linnie Key Track & Field Complex over the course of May 10-11.

It will be Biola's first time at a NCCAA Track & Field Championship since the men's team came to the outdoor championships back in 1981 and 1983. A lot of the runners Biola brought on this trip were also a part of the NCCAA Cross Country Championships in the fall, where the men's team won the title and the women's side placed second.

The Eagles will be competing in a slate filled with mostly distance events, but the team also as two student-athletes (Nathaniel Belden, Corry Williams) competing in the decathlon. The first event of the championship is at 5:30 a.m. PT on Thursday, with Biola's final event being the men's 5k at 1:15 p.m PT on Friday.

Biola has eight student-athletes ranked in the top-3 in their respective events heading into the meet. A top-3 finish earns the student-athlete NCCAA All-American honors. Stephanie Croy (3,000m steeple), Crystal Jardines (10k) and Emily Ransom (5k) are each ranked first in an event heading into competition.
