OLYMPIA, Wash. --- Meg McSheffrey captained her high school cross country team for three years and also captained her track & field team for three years. She led her teams to six top-3 state finishes during her four varsity seasons and now has committed to joining the Biola Track & Field program.

McSheffrey comes from a long line of family track & field success, as her grandmother, Norma, held the National Northern Ireland Native Record Holder for the long jump and her grandfather, Gerald, competed in track & field for Methodist College Belfast. Her whole family is athletic, as her uncle, Ted Johnson, played nine years with the New England Patriots.

This McSheffrey's high school career proved her to be capable of accomplishing just as much as those mentioned above. She was the Navigators' cross country MVP in 2016 and led that team to a state championship her freshman season and back-to-back runner-up finishes her junior and senior campaigns. When she was a junior, she led the track team to a state title, competing in the 300m hurdles, 400m, 800m and 4x400m relay. 

"I chose Biola because of the atmosphere of the campus," said McSheffrey. "Biola is a safe place were I can trust the people around me. It is a Christ-centered campus."

McSheffrey was a standout academically, working her way towards membership in the National Honors Society and helping the track team to win an all-state academic award. She plans to major in design when she arrives at Biola, with hopes of "exploring God's creation through art."

When she's not running or studying she also loves to horseback ride and go surfing.
