REDLANDS, Calif. ---- Micaela Pulliam is no stranger to intercollegiate competition, having used three years of her eligibility competing at California Baptist, one of Biola's PacWest Conference rivals. Pulliam ran cross country and track & field for the Lancers from 2015-18, graduating early, and now has one more year to use as she pursues her Master's of Science in Speech Language Pathology at Biola.
Pulliam earned All-PacWest honors in the 10,000m with a third-place conference finish in 2017. She also competed at the conference meet in 2016 by running the 5,000m. During her three years with the Lancers the team won three conference championships in cross country. This past season they took third at the NCAA Division II national meet, although Pulliam did not run at nationals.
She will complete her undergraduate studies with some summer courses before beginning the graduate program at Biola in the fall. Pulliam is an excellent student, expecting to finish her undergrad with a 3.8 grade point average, earning D2ADA Academic Achievement honors and All-PacWest Academic Honors.
"From the second that I walked on campus, I knew it was the place that God was calling me to attend," said Pulliam. "I was especially drawn to the strong sense of community there is in both the athletes and students. I am excited for the many ways that God will use my time at Biola to teach me more about being a follower of Christ, and I am especially excited for the opportunity to glorify God in all aspects of being a student-athlete at Biola!"
Prior to her time at CBU, Pulliam ran for just one season while attending Arrowhead Christian Academy for high school. She took up running as a senior and made the varsity cross country and track & field teams after competing multiple years in basketball and volleyball.
After attaining her graduate degree, Pulliam hopes to have a career working with school-aged children who need speech therapy services. She can also envision working in a hospital setting to have the chance to work with patients with all types of communication disorders.
