CLAREMONT, Calif. --- Over the course of the past two days, Biola Track & Field had three team members competing at the Claremont Classic Multis to try and up their heptathlon and decathlon scores.

All three finished in the top-3 of their respective events and two of the three set personal-bests in terms of total points scored. Nathaniel Belden (6162) and Corry Williams (5985) went 1-2 in the men's event and Heidi Sowers (3723) finished third in the heptathlon. Belden and Williams both hit new personal-bests with those finishes.

Belden won the 100m dash (11.15), the long jump (6.36m), shot put (12.29m), 400m (52.61) and javelin (44.58m). Williams won the 110m hurdles (15.29), discus (31.86m) and 1,500m (4:57.88).

Sowers recorded her best mark with a third-place finish in the 200m dash (26.33).

All three competitors jumped out to great starts during the opening day of competition (Thursday). There were 14 total events on day one and the trio of Eagles combined for nine personal-bests in that group of events.

Belden's first day saw him accumulate 3,392 of his 6,162 total points. It was his best first day ever and saw him set four personal-bests. He added 2,770 points on the second day and added new personal-bests in the discus (31.85m) and javelin (46.33m) on Friday to cap off a successful event. His new discus best was good enough for second place behind Williams' toss of 31.86m.

Williams set three personal-bests on day one and added four more during the second day. His day two marks in the 110m hurdles (15.29), discus (31.86m), pole vault (3.45m) and 1,500m (4:57.88) were career-bests and enough to give him a 259-point advantage over the third-place male.

Just like Belden and Williams, Sowers recorded her best day one ever, scoring 2,495 points when she'd previously only scored as high as 2,358 on the first day. She had two personal-bests on the first day (200m - 26.33 and high jump - 1.36m). After she finished fifth in the long jump, fourth in the javelin and fourth in the 800m Sowers ended up third and was just a handful of points back from her personal-best.
