Ines Diaz commits to Biola

Spanish Champion Commits to Biola

Location and the new Lim Center draw Spanish tennis player Ines Diaz to Biola.

May 02, 2018

GIJON, Spain --- Incoming freshman Ines Diaz is joining a Biola Women's Tennis team that is on the rise. The Eagles had multiple individual successes in their first season as an NCAA Division II program this year and will return to a newly renovated and expanded Biola Tennis Center in the coming academic year to continue their streak of defending home court.

The Eagles anticipate that Diaz will play a big role in their plan to take the program to a new level, as the Spaniard has won national junior tournaments at singles and doubles. Diaz reached the finals in eight tournaments at the Spanish junior and senior level in 2017, earning four championships and pushing her junior ranking as high as No. 69 in the nation.

Off the court, Diaz completed her studies at I.E.S, "El Piles," in Gijon, Spain. She enjoys being with friends and spending time outdoors as a recreational skier and hiker.

"Apart from the tennis program, I really like the atmosphere and the academics, the new Science facility and the location at Biola," said Diaz. "I am thrilled to be an Eagle."

Diaz plans to major in biochemistry during her time at Biola and hopes that program will prepare her to assist hospitals or criminal investigations as a lab technician

The tennis team will play in exhibition tournaments as individuals in the fall and begin team competition in February 2019. And you can see the rest of Biola's incoming recruiting class on the Committed Athletes page.
