POMONA, Calif. --- Biola Track & Field stayed relatively close to home this week as the Eagles went down the freeway to compete at the annual Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. It was a good day for BU with a lot of individual finishes near the top of deep fields.

"We had a pretty good day today. I was happy with our efforts and some of the marks we got," said Head Coach Sean Henning. "We talked with the team this week about how important the month of April is and that we need to be prepared to compete at our best each and every meet. We had a lot of athletes who really took that to heart and came out ready to go today."

Ambernicole Hollinger continued to make an impression in the throws events, especially with today's top-5 finish in the hammer throw. Her mark of 46.30m put her fifth overall and was just over one meter short of her personal-best.

Gabe Plendcio, fresh of a National Christian College Athletic Association Runner of the Week honor, had another great showing this week. He was Biola's top finisher in the 1,500m and set a new collegiate-best with his time of 3:56, which was good enough for 10th.

Sarah Prystupa posted yet another top-10 finish for BU, coming in ninth in the women's pole vault by clearing 3.55m. Gabriel Igbokwe also continued a string of consistent performances with a pair of 12th-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump. He improved on his long jump from last week with a mark of 6.29m, but had a small setback in the triple jump.

The men's 800m was another strong event for the Eagles. Aditya Lal (1:55.03) and Robbie Gleeson (1:55.86) both finished in the top-16, with Gleeson setting a new best time. Both were fantastic showings in a field of 107 runners.

Distance runners showed off a bit in the 3,000m steeplechase with three Biola runners placing in the top-10 on the women's side and Tanner Dutchover breaking 10 minutes for the first time to place 11th in the men's race. Stephanie Croy (4th - 11:03), Mandy Reyes (7th - 11:24) and Hannah Hunsaker (10th - 11:43) were the three top-10 finishers for BU.

The women's 5,000m run had similar results with three Eagles finishing in the top-20 and a pair in the top-10. Emily Ransom led the way with an 18:08 to place ninth. She finished just in front of Jessica Cody, who set a new career-best with an 18:11 to finish 10th. Crystal Jardines was the other Eagle to place in the top third of the pack, with an 18:35 to finish 19th.

Biola competes at the Cerritos Invitational next week on Friday and will conclude the weekend with the UC San Diego Triton Invitational on Saturday.
