Biola Men’s Golf improves on its first round score and maintains its place on the team leaderboard.

April 24, 2018

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. --- Tuesday's second round at the PacWest Men's Golf Championship made it apparent that the Biola Eagles are finishing their season with one of their team's best performances.

Head Coach Max Allen's group improved on their first round team score by three strokes during Biola's second playthrough with a total of 301 and added four more shots to their lead over the Hawai'i Pacific Sharks.

"Today was positive and we had a solid performance from Kyle McAbee," said Allen. "I thought he would shoot 70 or better with the way he hit the ball and he made an eagle on hole 14 to get to 3-under with four holes to play. He had a couple miscues on the short game took that away but it was still a solid round for him."

Parker Buck and fellow junior McAbee paced the Eagles on Tuesday with scores of 72 and 73, respectively. Buck's 72 was the best round he's played all year and helped him jump up a team-high 10 spots on Tuesday into 124th. Buck played a very strong back nine that saw eight pars and a late birdie on 16 to bring him even.

McAbee currently sits as Biola's team leader after he was one-under through his first nine holes and collected the third eagle of the entire tournament. McAbee is in 13th place with 18 holes to play and is just four shots behind the golfers in the top-five.

Biola will start the final round on Wednesday in seventh place, holding a lead over HPU, Notre Dame De Namur and Chaminade University. To see how the Eagles did on Monday, read the round one recap.
