PALM SPRINGS, Calif. --- Biola finished up the Palm Springs Break Tournament on Friday with a second-place finish and a new team-best single round score of 292, shaving six strokes off its mark from Thursday's first round.
 
"We did about as well as we could. [First-place] Marymount California has to be given credit because they played a spectacular round to win it," said Head Coach Max Allen. "We were in the hunt all day with Austin Bishop five-under thru under holes and Parker Buck one-under with four to play. We gave a few strokes back but we lost by 10 so even if we got those back it wouldn't have made the difference."
 
After turning things around with a strong back nine on Thursday, Austin Bishop jumped six places up the individual leaderboard with five birdies on the front nine to finish in fourth place. Bishop turned in the best individual round any Eagles had played this season with a 70 (-2) on Friday and concluded the tournament one stroke over par.
 
Bishop was followed on Friday by Parker Buck and Kyle McAbee, whose consistency to end the tournament kept them both within two strokes of their first round score. Buck maintained his standing in sixth place by adding a score of 73 in round two to finish with a 147 (+3) through 36 holes. McAbee earned his best finish since Sept. 2015, by becoming the third Eagle to land in the top-10 with an eighth-place finish.
 
Not to be overlooked in another strong performance from Dominic Ariondo, who played in his second tournament of the calendar year and dropped four strokes from his first round score. Ariondo moved up six spots to finish in 13^th place with a score of 74 on Wednesday.
 
"Despite the second-place finish, I was stoked to see the guys fighting for it," said Allen. "There weren't any nerves or cautiousness so it's good momentum to build off of. I like how scores are trending while looking at the next events."
 
The Eagles head to Indio, Calif. for their next tournament on Mar. 26.
