Biola had two really bright spots in the Tuesday’s loss to Dominican.

March 06, 2018

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Women's Tennis returned to action on Tuesday after last week's planned trip to Northern California was cancelled due to weather. The Eagles had two impressive performances in the conference matchup with the Dominican Penguins, but just could not support those results with victories in other pairing and lost 7-2.

Our number one doubles team had a great win and played the best doubles Biola has played this season," said Head Coach David Goodman. "Tinisee Kandakai also played really well today. She was really hitting the ball hard and was on her game."

After playing a combined 11 matches with other partners, Esther Lee and Lauren Lee found immediate success in their first doubles match together and got the first point of the game with a 8-2 victory.

It was Lauren Lee's third doubles win of the season and her fourth overall but the first doubles victory for Esther Lee.

Kandakai got her second singles victory of the season with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Savannah Gray in No. 3 singles and finished her match quicker than any other pairing.

Kandakai's victory kept the Eagles hopes alive in the team score and momentarily tied the score a 2-2. But after the Penguins won doubles pairings two and three they proceeded to sweep the final five singles matches to finish and finalize their fifth victory of the season.

The Eagles will take a day to regroup and prepare for their next PacWest match on Thursday. The Holy Names Hawks come to the Biola Tennis Center to start a match with the Eagles at 3:30 p.m.
