LA MIRADA, Calif. --- For the second week in a row the PacWest Conference's best softball player comes from Head Coach Lorie Coleman's team. Biola claimed two of three weekly awards with Selina Sherlin earning PacWest Player of the Week honors and Paige Austin earning Freshman of the Week recognition. 

Sherlin, Austin and their teammates started PacWest Conference play with a bang this past week, going 6-2 through their whirlwind Hawaiian road trip. The Eagles are now 17-5 on the season and have the most conference wins of any PacWest team (6). Their 17 overall wins is second-most among the teams in the conference. 

Selina Sherlin won the top award in the conference after hammering out 13 hits this week, including five doubles. She hit .481 and was on-base in 56.3 percent of her plate appearances to pace the Biola offense as it picked up six victories over Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific. She's the Eagles' second consecutive conference player of the week winner after Hailey Boyett took home the crown last week.

Sherlin's offensive production has been off the charts this season. With this week's production she's now hit safely in nine consecutive ballgames and has just one strikeout in her 81 plate appearances this year. She's second in the conference in extra-base hits (9).  She leads the conference in hits (28) and walks (12), and she is top-10 in runs (18), batting average (.412), RBI (16) and total bases (41).

Austin took home Freshman of the Week honors and would've been considered for Pitcher of the Week as well, but a pitcher from Dixie State threw a perfect game and got rewarded. Austin had a hand in five of the Eagles' six wins on the week, winning three ball games and getting a save in two others. She threw 19 innings with a 1.47 ERA and struck out 31 batters while walking just five.

She's currently second in the PacWest in wins (8), first in saves (3), third in IP (50), first in Ks (74), and sixth in Opp. BA (.189). She's second in that category among pitchers with at least 10 appearances.

Biola continues its season with six home games this week, beginning with a non-conference doubleheader against William Woods starting at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The team is back to conference play with home doubleheaders against Dominican and Holy Names on Thursday and Friday.
