Buck Climbs Leaderboard

Parker Buck weathers strong winds to make eagle and shoots up the individual leaderboard in round two.

March 26, 2018

INDIO, Calif. --- The windy conditions at the Terra Lago Golf Club made for chaotic activity on the leaderboard during the final 18 holes of play Monday.

After spending much of the day in the middle of the pack, the Eagles shot up to ninth place when Kyle McAbee and Parker Buck both made an eagle early in the second round. Biola was able to maintain that standing as the majority of the team turned in positive scores that hovered around even to finish the back nine.

But, like many other teams on the evening, the Eagles struggled with holes four through nine to finish out the day and fell to 17th place with one round to play on Tuesday.

Biola had a team score of 661 after two round and is still in a position to move up the team standings on Tuesday. The Eagles are just five strokes away from 14th place and 11 back of the top-10.

The aforementioned Eagles from Buck ignited his rocket up the individual leaderboard in round two. Minus-three through eight holes before finishing with a +4 (76) in the second round, Buck improved 43 places in the 110-player field to rest in a tie for 38th. He shaved 10 strokes off of his first-round score and finished with a team-best 162 after 36 holes.

McAbee moved up two spots in round two to 47th overall after he eagled his second hole and followed it with par on the next six. He's just two strokes behind Buck at 164, having carded an 82 in both rounds Monday.

Not to be forgotten in the final total is the scorching first round from sophomore Kaden Page. Page was even through his first nine holes, including two birdies, and tied Buck for the best single-round score with a +4 (76). At the conclusion of the first round, Page's score had him in seventh place on the individual leaderboard.

The Eagles will conclude play in Indio on Tuesday with the third and final round of the tournament.
