Concordia Doesn’t Budge

Women’s Tennis falls in a road match against Concordia University Irvine.

February 08, 2018

COMPLETE RESULTS

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. --- The Eagles suffered their second loss in PacWest play on Thursday, falling on the road to Concordia University Irvine.

Concordia started the match by sweeping all three doubles points and forcing Biola to play catchup during the singles portion. The teams of Esther Lee/Tinisee Kandakai and Madison Swaney/Lauren Lee both found enough success in their matchups to win four games during their doubles fixtures. But CUI was on a roll that would maintain its moment through the singles matches.

The Eagles top three players all had trouble with their opponents and quickly lost the first set. Madison Swaney was able to bounce back best and won three games in the second set before her opponent came out on top.

But it wasn't until Biola's No. 4 singles player, Kandakai, forced extra play in the first set that the Eagles were closest to turning things around. Kandakai pushed the first set against Samantha Schuster all the way to 6-5 before Schuster ended things at 7-5 and then went on to win the second set, 6-3.

Concordia completed the match sweep with a final win in No. 5 singles and forces Biola to wait a bit longer for its first win of the 2018 season. The Eagles next match is Thursday, Feb. 15 at Chapman University at 2:00 p.m.
