SAN MARCOS, Calif. --- Head Coach Max Allen returned to the links on Monday for their first tournament of the spring season, finishing 13th out of 15 teams after the first two rounds of the CSUSM Fujikura Invite at Shadowridge GC.

With junior Kyle McAbee returning from an abroad semester in the fall and contributing a score of 160, the Eagles finished day one with a team score of 625. That places them in a tie with Tiffin University and sits them just eight strokes behinds Redlands for the next spot of the leaderboard with one round to play on Tuesday.

Chico State currently sits on top of the leaderboard after its team shot a 290 in round one and a 287 in round two.

"We got off to a great start in both rounds but faded at the end of each," said Allen. "Austin Bishop, Kyle McAbee, and Parker Buck were all around even-par but had tough finishes."

Buck finished the day with the best individual score for the Eagles, carding identical 75's in each round. His total of 150 leaves him just four shots outside the top-10 on the individual leaderboard.

Austin Bishop sits five strokes behind Buck with a total of 155 while Tristen Ginkel and McAbee both turned in scores of 160.

Action at Shadowridge will resume on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.
