Dixie State wins a PacWest contest with Biola, 7-2.

February 24, 2018

ST. GEORGE, Utah. --- Facing the unknown was status quo for Biola Women's Tennis on Saturday, as the Eagles resumed conference play by traveling to Utah to face the Dixie State Trailblazers.

The Eagles dealt with a venue change just before the match to Dixie High School in addition
to the extensive travel and the prospect of playing entirely new opponents. Head Coach David Goodman's team made several matches close and entered singles play down just 2-1, but ultimately felled 7-2 to the Trailblazers.

Eunice Lee and Lily Waterhouse pushed their match with Dixie State's No.1 pair all the way to 7-7 before DSU finally got the first point of the match, 8-7. The Eagles responded in the final doubles fixture as Tinisee Kandakai and Allison Torres won by a comfortable score of 8-4. It was Kandakai and Torres' first win as a duo and Kandakai's second win in doubles this season.

The beginning of singles play followed a similar script to doubles, with Eunice Lee winning a close second set, 7-6, to force her opponent in No.1 singles to win 10-6 in the superbreaker.

The Trailblazers would seal the win with straight-set singles matches in pairings two through five. But Lily Waterhouse ended the day on a good note for her team. Waterhouse collected her first singles win of the season with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Taylor Brown.

Biola is now 0-5 in PacWest play. But the Eagles hope to improve to 1-5 when they travel to Oakland on Thursday March 1 to play Holy Names at 9:30 a.m.
