MEET

Postseason Swims Start Wednesday

Eagles set for intense four days of competition at SPLASH!

February 13, 2018

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- It all comes down to this. The countless hours of hard work and calculated workouts have led up to the final meet of the season for Biola Swim & Dive, and Head Coach Ryan Kauth's team is hoping to make it one to remember.

It's the first time in program history that Biola has been prepared to be its very best for the Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference championship meet, and it will be very interesting to see how the Eagles stack up against the likes of Azusa Pacific, UC San Diego, Loyola Marymount, Concordia University Irvine and others.

"I'm definitely excited going into this week," said Kauth.Ā "As I've told the team I undoubtedly think that we've worked as hard, if not harder, than any team in the conference this season and we are as prepared as we can be for our Championship Meet."

The meet is back where it belongs, being hosted at La Mirada's own SPLASH Aquatic Center from Feb. 14-17 with 13 teams from four different states competing for the top honors the conference has to offer.

In the past Biola's team has not been as fully invested in this meet, because the swimmers needed to be prepared for the NAIA Championships just a week or two later, but this year is an entirely different story.

All season long the early-morning workouts, two-a-day practices, weight room sessions, careful nutritional intake and blood, sweat and tears have been to get the team ready for this weekend. Kauth is holding nothing back as the team looks to fare well against his previous school, CUI, and the Eagles' biggest rival, APU. Ten Cornerstone Cup points are on the line this weekend too as the higher finish in the women's results earns points for either Biola or Azusa Pacific.

"I communicated to the swimmers that when I look back on the year of training that we've had, I can't think of one thing I would do differently, or one thing that I would change in our everyday approach," said Kauth. "We hit the grind morning after morning, week after week, month after month, since September."

Everything begins on Wednesday as the morning session features diving and distance freestyle and then the evening is packed with diving awards and three swimming finals.

"I couldn't be more confident in this group, and everything they've done to ready themselves for this week," said Kauth. "Its been one heck of a ride, and they are prepared to put on one heck of a show this week. I can't wait to see what they're capable of."
