Signing Announcement for Alexis Lara

Texan Brings Big Speed, Solid Bat

Biola Softball adds Alexis Lara to its list of 2020 incomers.

December 17, 2018

THE WOODLANDS, Texas --- The great state of Texas is seemingly becoming a feeder for the Biola Softball program, and Alexis Lara is the latest addition to the recent crop of Texan Biolans.

Lara is a class of 2019 commit who's first season up at Freedom Field will be the spring of 2020, which should be Biola's first season postseason-eligible in NCAA Division II.

"We're so excited to add Alexis to our program," said Head Coach Nikki Udria. "We are ready to see Alexis' speed create havoc on the field for other teams. We are also thrilled to have her competitive edge in the outfield as well as at the plate. We can't wait for what the future of Biola Softball holds."

Lara comes to Biola after a standout high school career at The Woodlands College Park High School. She's a four-year varsity athlete for the Cavaliers and managed to make the all-district team in each of her first three seasons. She won team defensive player of the year honors as a freshman, team offensive player of the year as a sophomore and was the Team MVP last year with a chance to repeat that award with a strong senior year.

Lara is an outfielder who also has some top-notch club experience under her belt, having played on the Texas Bombers national team in each of the past three years. The Bombers finished third overall at nationals this past summer.

When she's not busy with softball or her studies, Lara enjoys volunteering with her family at her church's food pantry and working with the youth ministry.

"I chose Biola because I fell in love with the softball program as well as what the university stands for," said Lara. "I want to be able to fulfill my education goals, grow deeper in my faith and enjoy the sport that I love. I am excited to move back to SoCal because a majority of my family lives there. Also, I feel unbelievably blessed to be a part of the Biola family and I can't wait to start my new journey with God walking along with me."

Lara plans to study kinesiology at Biola, with goals of a career as a physical therapist.
