SOUTH GATE, Calif. --- The meet of the year is here. Well, at least the meet of the calendar year, that is. Biola competes at the three-day Collegiate Winter Invite this weekend to cap the fall 2018 portion of their season and set them up for a speedy spring.

THIS WEEK: Collegiate Winter Invite - South Gate Swim Stadium (South Gate, Calif.) - Friday Nov. 30 at 10 a.m., Saturday Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. and Sunday Dec. 2 at 10 a.m.

LOCATION: The meet is hosted at South Gate Swim Stadium all three days. The Patricia G. Mitchell Swim Stadium is locatied at 9520 Hildreth, Avenue South Gate, Calif. 90280.

COLLEGIATE WINTER INVITE: Friday - Sunday Nov. 30- Dec. 2 // Prelims at 10am each day // Finals at 5pm each day
This is the sixth consecutive year that Biola's competed at the Collegiate Winter Invite, hosted by La Verne. It's just the third time the Eagles have been able to spend all three days at the meet, getting permission to compete on a rare Sunday. Biola finished second among seven teams on the women's side last season. The men also landed on the podium with a third-place finish. This year's meet features eight teams on the women's side, including Azusa Pacifc, Concordia Irvine, Loyola Marymount and CSU East Bay out of the Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference. The men's pool features six schools, with just Biola and CUI out of the PCSC. There will be over 150 swimmers competing this weekend, and its one of the most important meets of the year as Biola will be looking to go FAST. This was traditionally the meet where BU would aim to hit NAIA national qualifying times and would even throw on fast suits to get those time. Now, it's still a meet where Head Coach Ryan Kauth has his swimmers prepared to set personal-bests and get a good idea of what they could accomplish at the season-ending PCSC Championship meet. Keep an eye on the freshmen this weekend to see how many collegiate-bests get dropped.

ABOUT LAST MEET: Last time out was in considerably different conditions. It was just the women's team, and they were swimming in Alaska, shrouded by a bunch of snow and ice and in an indoor pool. The Eagles had a terrific second day of competition against the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and won the head-to-head dual, 104-98. That showing came just one day after a BU loss by the score of 122-83. It was a great way to end the meet weekend and set the team up for two weeks of hard training for this weekend's competition. Standout swimmers from that meet include Kasidee Pascoe (win in 1,650), Emily Silzel (win in 200-free), Katelyn Harper (win in 200-fly), Rachel Stinchcomb (win in 400-IM) and Bethany Harper, who was a key piece in Biola's ability to come from behind and win the 400-freestyle relay that clinched the dual meet win.
