BIOLA (4-2) vs. NOTRE DAME DE NAMUR (0-6): Thursday Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. \\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
Biola leads the all-time series vs. Notre Dame de Namur 3-1. The Eagles have a win in the teams' only matchup as PacWest Conference institutions, beating the Argos 60-52 in Belmont last season. NDNU comes into Thursday's contest still looking for its first victory, following a winless six-game preseason. NDNU played an all NCAA Division II preseason, while Biola had just two division II programs among its preseason opponents. The Argos' closest call was their last time out, when they hosted Concordia (Ore.) this past Saturday and came two points away from a win, 58-56. NDNU has had a tough time putting the ball through the basket so far this season, with 61 points in a loss to Stanislaus State being its highest scoring output. They're averaging just 55.5 points-per-game so far. Defense has not been too bad though, allowing opponents just 69 points-per-game on average. Trevor Treinen and Alex Talma led the charge in the Eagles and Argos' previous meeting. Treinen made three threes and was perfect from the stripe to lead the team with 17 points. Talma had 15 points on an extremely efficient 5-of-7 performance, while pulling down a team-high seven rebounds. NDNU's leading scorer in that game was RJ Louis (13pts). He's back on this years team and is scoring seven points-per-game on 31 percent shooting.

BIOLA (4-2) vs. HOLY NAMES (1-4): Thursday Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. \\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
It took a game-winning Alex Talma free throw in the final seconds for Biola to earn victory over the Holy Names Hawks up in Oakland last season in the teams' first meeting as PacWest foes. The Eagles won that game 68-67 to win the program's first-ever PacWest win after beginning the year 0-10 in conference games. That win started the strongest stretch of play in the 2017-18 season for Biola Men's Basketball, as the Eagles would win four of five contests beginning at HNU. The fourth win in that streak also came over Holy Names, when Biola beat the Hawks at home, 84-64. Treinen, Talma and Michael Bagatourian combined for 51 of the Eagles' 84 points, while shooting a combined 46 percent from the floor. Holy Names comes into the week 1-4 in preseason play, having one game canceled due to poor air quality. Their lone win came over CSU Monterey Bay. The Hawks beat the Otters, 77-71. HNU used rebounding and a strong second half to key that victory, out-rebounding the Otters 40-24. That's not been the norm this season for the Hawks, who've averaged around 33 rebounds-per-game while allowing their opponents almost 40 boards a game. Holy Names' scoring has coming primarily from two sources so far this season, both guards, junior Andre Green (14.2) and senior Alonzo Taylor (12.2). Biola held those two players to just 25 points total in last season's two meetings. The Eagles are 13-2 all-time against the Hawks.

TALMANATING: Alex Talma put together quite the preseason this year. The third-year senior led the team in scoring (14.3) and rebounding (9.2) to put himself in talks as one of the better players in the whole PacWest Conference heading into the 22-game balanced conference schedule. Currently, the big man is scoring almost five points more than his career average and rebounding about a clip about three rebounds higher than previous years, but he doesn't look like he'll be slowing down at all. The Eagles open conference play with a pair of teams he played really well against last season. Talma's posted an average of 14 points, eight rebounds in games against HNU and NDNU in 2017-18.

HOME COOKING: Biola's two home matches this week make it seven of eight at home to start the season for the Eagles. A pair of wins would make it 6-1 at home to start the year with just nine home games left on the schedule. Biola is 9-2 all-time in home contests against this week's opponents.

YEAR 39: Dr. Dave Holmquist just keeps humming along. He's in his 39th season coaching his alma mater and is holding steady in fifth place in the all-time wins list among four-year college men's basketball coaches. Holmquist's 962 wins are third-most among active college coaches, only falling behind Mike Krzyzewski of Duke (1,100) and Herb Magee of NCAA Division II Jefferson University (1,074). Holmquist has averaged 22.8 wins-per-season, including three years at Fresno Pacific when he first got started in the mid-1970s. If he can get 22 wins this year, he'd set himself up well for a run at win 1,000 in YEAR 40.

MR. 1,000: Trevor Treinen eclipsed 1,000 career points in his last game last season. The four-year senior comes is up to 1,084 points after a productive preseason. He 334 points-per-season over his last three years, with a career-best 442 points last year. If he can get around 375 this season, he could move into the top-10 all-time among Biola Men's Basketball players. He's currently on pace for around 380 points this season. The current No. 10 is Bryan Weakley (1998-02) at 1,322. The highest spot he could likely reach would be seventh. He'd need 417 points to pass Roger Poppen (1960-63) for that spot. Treinen is also near the top of the Biola record books in three-pointers made. He comes into this season with 148 through his first three seasons, eighth all-time. He's within 50 of passing Marcus White, Dakari Archer, Nate Rakestraw, Pierre Zook and Doug Newby to move into third all-time behind Weakley (236) and Danny Campbell (203).

NEXT WEEK: at Point Loma (4-2) - Wednesday Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m.; at Concordia Irvine (4-4) - Saturday Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
