Plendcio, Henning Highlight PacWest Awards

Gabe Plendcio earns Biola's first Runner of the Year honor.

November 13, 2018

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Cross Country had it's best season yet in the PacWest Conference, and on Tuesday it was rewarded for its efforts with a litany of conference awards.

To start, Gabe Plendcio became the first Biola student-athlete to earn the top annual award in his sport during Biola's NCAA Division II era. The junior, and reigning PacWest Champion, was rewarded for a standout season with the PacWest Runner of the Year honor for the men's side.

"Very proud of gabe and all the work he's put in this year. He's a tremendous talent and also extremely humble. He's had so much growth this year and he is just now starting to figure out how good he can be. I think most importantly, Gabe is realizing the gift God's given him and how to use it best to glorify Him.

Plendcio won the conference title with a 24:43 two weekends ago and followed up with a NCCAA national title (25:35) last weekend. This season he also set a new school record with his personal-best of 23:59.

Head Coach Sean Henning led his men's team to the PacWest Championship, with a team time of 2:06:44 and 46 total points. The Eagles won the PacWest meet by 25 points to earn the school's first-ever team title in the PacWest Conference.

He then led both the men and women's team to NCCAA Championships last weekend and cemented his place as the PacWest Conference Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Henning's team also racked up 10 All-PacWest honors at the PacWest Championship meet.

Those honors were re-released today along with the other annual awards. See all of Biola's All-PacWest honorees and times from the conference championships listed below.
