BIOLA (1-1) vs. WEST COAST BAPTIST (0-3): Tuesday Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m. \\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
Biola begins its busy week with a familiar opponent in West Coast Baptist College. The Eagles and Eagles have met in each of the last two seasons and five times overall. Biola has never lost a matchup with West Coast Baptist and has an average win margin of 31 points. The last time these two sides met, Biola earned a 100-64 victory. It was the first time Biola scored 100 in a game since 2002. It's also the most recent time BU has hit 100, coming back on Dec. 30, 2017. Biola scored 49 of its 100 points in the painted area. Alex Talma scored 18 in that matchup, to lead all returning Biola players.
West Coast Baptist is off to an 0-3 start to the season with losses at Simpson (95-66), Multnomah (128-95) and Corban (97-73). Junior Seth Hanna has thed the effort on offense for the Eagles, scoring about 20 points-per-game, to provide over 25 percent of WCBC's total offense. Expect the Biola defense to key in on him tonight and force the scoring to come from someone else. That next man up would likely be big man senior Nic Corl, who's averaging 18 points and eight rebounds a game.

BIOLA (1-1) vs. SAINT KATHERINE (1-6): Thursday Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. \\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
Thursday's matchup is the first time ever that Biola Men's Basketball will face the University of Saint Katherine. It will then meet USK twice over the span of its next three games, as BU opens next week with another home contest against the Firebirds. Saint Katherine's only victory to this point of the season was a 104-98 number over Biola's former Golden State Athletic Conference foe, San Diego Christian. The Firebirds have scored an average of 77 points-per-contest so far this year, but they're allowing almost 96 points-per-game to their opponents. They faced PacWest member Point Loma back on Oct. 30 and lost 80-64 in what was an exhibition contest for the Sea Lions. Austin Armstead (13.3) and Dieon Davis (12.7) have been the teams' leading scorers to this point, but the team spreads out its scoring well, with seven players at around seven points or higher. The Firebirds, similarly to Biola, have struggled to hit shots from the field to start the year. They're shooting just 39 percent and have not been grabbing the rebounds either, down 47.5-37.9 in that category.

BIOLA (1-1) at POMONA-PITZER (0-0): Saturday Nov. 17 at 7:00 p.m. \\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
The Eagles' first road contest of the season comes at NCAA Division III Pomona-Pitzer. It's the 41st all-time meeting between these two Southern California programs. The first came all the way back in the 1960-61 season, with Biola suffering a 67-47 loss. The Eagles have won the last five meetings though, including a 70-60 win last season. Biola holds a 26-14 advantage in the all-time series. The Sagehens are coming off a 15-12 season that saw them go 12-4 in SCIAC play. Pomona-Pitzer has a solid team this season, bringing in some new members that has 32-year head coach Charles Katisiaficas eyeing a 12th run into the NCAA Division III tournament. Pomona-Pitzer was picked to finish first in the conference in the recent SCIAC Preseason Poll. The Biola game is a late season opener for the Sagehens and will be sure to bring out a solid home crowd at Voelkel Gymnasium.

TICKETS - The Sagehens do not have ticketing information available online. DIRECTIONS

PACWEST PRIZES: After one week of basketball, Biola Men's Basketball already has two conference weekly awards under its belt. Alex Talma (24 rebounds, two blocks, two steals) earned conference defensive player of the week, while Alex Wright (34 points, 50% shooting) took home conference freshman of the week.

WELL, SHOOT: Biola has not shot under 40 percent in a season since the 1967-68 season. Opening week, the Eagles' struggled to get points from the field, shooting just 37 percent. Now, there's no way that continues for the whole season, but it's definitely an area of focus headed into week two. The Eagles 53 field goal attempts per game last week, which is right around its average from the last few years, but it made it in the bucket with far less consistency than in previous years. Look for guys like Trevor Treinen (28%) and Alex Talma (36%) to turn it around and help the team turn it around as well.

IT'S MADNESS: Biola had its annual Midnight Madness on Sunday evening. Treinen stole the show as the dunk contest champion, finally tasting victory after some tremendous dunks earned him only as high as second the past three years. Chase Gym was packed out and even heard a few words from Dr. Dave Holmquist in an effort to rally the student body for the new year of basketball.

POLL POSITION: Biola Men's Basketball finished 11th in the PacWest Conference with a 5-15 season last year. The Eagles do not want to replicate that finish, and apparently the coaches in the conference respect BU and Dr. Dave Holmquist enough that they don't think Biola will have a rerun of last season. In last week's PacWest Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, Biola was picked to finish seventh in the league, which decreased from 14 teams to 12 teams this season. The league also increased from 20 conference games to 22 to allow each team to play a balanced, home-and-home schedule.

YEAR 39: Dr. Dave Holmquist just keeps humming along. He's in his 39th season coaching his alma mater and is holding steady in fifth place in the all-time wins list among four-year college men's basketball coaches. Holmquist's 959 wins are third-most among active college coaches, only falling behind Mike Krzyzewski of Duke (1,100) and Herb Magee of NCAA Division II Jefferson University (1,074). Holmquist has averaged 22.8 wins-per-season, including three years at Fresno Pacific when he first got started in the mid-1970s. If he can get 22 wins this year, he'd set himself up well for a run at win 1,000 in YEAR 40.

MR. 1,000: Trevor Treinen eclipsed 1,000 career points in his last game last season. The four-year senior comes into the year with 1,002 career points. He 334 points-per-season over his last three years, with a career-best 442 points last year. If he can get around 375 this season, he could move into the top-10 all-time among Biola Men's Basketball players. The current No. 10 is Bryan Weakley (1998-02) at 1,322. The highest spot he could likely reach would be seventh. He'd need 417 points to pass Roger Poppen (1960-63) for that spot. Treinen is also near the top of the Biola record books in three-pointers made. He comes into this season with 148 through his first three seasons, eighth all-time. He's within 50 of passing Marcus White, Dakari Archer, Nate Rakestraw, Pierre Zook and Doug Newby to move into third all-time behind Weakley (236) and Danny Campbell (203).

NEXT WEEK: vs Saint Katherine (1-6) - Wednesday Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
