PRESCOTT, Ariz. --- The Biola Eagles started the ERAU Co-Ed Invitational with two strong team rounds on Monday to jump to the top of the six team field.

Having won this tournament by 15 strokes a year ago with Tori Roeske taking the individual championship, the Eagles returned to friendly confines at the Antelope Hills North course and made a statement, shooting a 306 as a team in the first round and shaving off five strokes for a 301 mark in their second playthrough.

Biola leads second place Embry-Riddle Arizona by six strokes heading into Tuesday's final round and has four players in the top-10 of the 31-player field. Following Roeske, who is in second place just three stroke behind the leader, are Alexis Gopfert in third at +5, Jules Loibl in fifth at +9 and Sophia Karnazes in a tie for eighth after jumping up seven spots in the second round.

The Eagles worked through spots of rain at the end of the first round and into the second, still making par with regularity. Gopfert led the Eagles by shooting part or better on 29 of her 36 holes while Roeske and Loibl kept pace with 28 and 23 respectively.

Karnazes had the biggest jump of the day for Biola after recording birdies on one and three to shave three strokes off her first round score in the first nine holes and four total in the second round. Sami Penor also moved up three spots after carding a 161 during her initial two rounds on this course.

Biola's third round begins Tuesday just before 8 a.m.
