LA MIRADA, Calif. --- For the fifth year in a row Biola Swim & Dive will bus up to Northern California to compete in the Bay Area Invite and Bay Area Quad Meet hosted by Mills College. The Eagles began going to the meet in 2014 to replace the Pepperdine Malibu Invite on their schedule.

BAY AREA QUAD MEET/DOUBLE DUAL MEET: Friday, Oct. 26, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.
The action begins this week with the Eagles going head-to-head with Mills, College of Idaho, CSU East Bay and SOKA at the annual double dual meet. CSUEB and the hosts only have women's swimming and diving, but the other three schools will all have both men and women competing. Last season it was only College of Idaho and Biola with men's programs and the Yotes took a 139-64 lead. Head Coach Ryan Kauth's team will look to close that gap or overcome it completely with a deeper side swimming this year. Biola and SOKA's men both competed at the PCSC Pentathlon two weeks ago and BU had the narrow edge with 28 points to SOKA's 20. On the women's side, Biola managed to beat Mills and College of Idaho last year, but lost to the PCSC giant, CSU East Bay. The Eagles will look to replicate that performance this year and add a win over SOKA.

BAY AREA INVITE: Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
Last season Biola's men's team placed third of the three men's teams at this invite (UC Santa Cruz, College of Idaho). The Eagles will look to move up that list this year. There was just a 127-point spread between first and third last year, that can be aided by some strong relay performances this year. The women placed second of five last season, only finishing behind the aforementioned CSU East Bay Pioneers. The Eagles' 517 points put them ahead of UC Santa Cruz, College of Idaho and Mills. Rachel Stinchcomb, Emily Silzel and Rebecca Brandt will look to lead Biola's newcomers to a similar finish this week. Raymond Kam won the 200-breaststroke and Silzel had multiple top-5 finishes to highlight last year's individual performances.

ABOUT LAST MEET: Biola tasted victory over Whittier College at long last. The Eagles' broke a losing streak against the Poets with two terrific performances on the road. The women won 187-64 and the men took a victory to the tune of a 165.50-83.50 total. Jacob Allen,
Rebecca Brandt, and Kam joined 14 first-year swimmers in setting some new personal-best times during last week's action. The Eagles topped the Poets in 22 of the day's events in a dominant showing.
PCSC'S BEST: As a result of last week's efforts, senior
Noah Reed was recognized by the Pacific Collegiate Swimming & Diving Conference as their swimmer of the week. Reed was a part of three event wins (two individual, one relay) as he helped accumulate 30 points for his team. He recorded season-best swims in both personal events that he won (1,000-freestyle and 500-freestyle) and was the anchor of the winning relay.
