PALM COAST, Fla. --- On an up and down day two at the NCCAA National Championships for Biola Women's Golf, freshman Sami Penor and her climb within reach of the tournament's top individual position was one of the brightest moments.

The Henderson, Nevada native recorded the day's best round with a 75 that helped Penor grasp sole possession of second place after 36 holes with a 153 (+9). Penor's final playthrough on Wednesday will be one of the two top stories to follow for Biola Women's Golf fans, as she is only three strokes behind the overall leader while the Eagles duke it out with the Erskine College Flying Fleet on Wednesday to determine who walks away with the tournament championship.

Starting the day with just four strokes between them, Biola and Erskine College both improved on their round-one scores and remained essentially even with one another headed into the final day. The live scoring system listed as much as a nine-stroke lead for Biola just after the teams started the second half of their round. But at the end of the day, the Flying Fleet had shaved one shot off the Eagles lead with a 310 while the rest of the field was 18 strokes or more behind them.

For their part, Head Coach Jane Carr's group followed Monday's team score of 312 with a 311 in the second round. That marks the 11th-straight round that Biola Women's Golf has recorded a team score below 315, and it's all the more impressive on Tuesday since threats of afternoon rain affected playing conditions and caused seven other teams in the nine-institution field to have a higher team score in round two.  

All four of the Eagles' scored rounds on Tuesday came from golfers who moved up the leaderboard. Jules Liobl and Tori Roeske each advanced seven spots and were particularly good on the front nine while Biola was fending off Erskine College's charge. Liobl was just two over par on holes one through nine, a four-stroke improvement over how she fared Monday on  those same holes. And Roeske has the best front-nine on the team at 37 (+1), concluding her day with a birdie on nine that moved her into a tie for seventh.

Biola, Erskine College and Campbellsville are all scheduled to tee off at about 7 a.m. Pacific Time on Wednesday. Live stats for the final round are available at the NCCAA National Championship Golfstat Page.
