LA MIRADA, Calif. --- After another thrilling and successful week of competition for Biola Cross Country at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational, the team raked in an incredible six weekly awards, including two National Christian College Athletic Association awards and all four from the PacWest Conference.

Gabe Plendcio led the way by breaking the school's cross country 8k record and earning NCCAA Runner of the Week honors and PacWest Conference Runner of the Week honors. Plendcio's 23:59.1 helped him finish sixth in a field full of NCAA Division I competition, and he helped pace Biola's men to the fastest team time in program history (2:04:26.9).

This week's award makes it three times this season that Plendcio's earned NCCAA Runner of the Week honors. It's also his third PacWest Runner of the Week award this season. Not too shabby since the team's ran in just four meets.

Freshman Clara Haynes was another standout, winning multiple awards this week. She ran in the women's 6k invitational up at Santa Clara, completing the course in 21:48.9. That time converted down to a 5k would tie Mackenna Mason for the fastest time this season by any Biola runner.

Haynes' effort was rewarded by the NCCAA, as she earned her first NCCAA Runner of the Week honor, and it was also recognized by the PacWest Conference as she picked up PacWest Freshman of the Week honors for the third time this year.

As mentioned, Biola swept all four of the PacWest weekly awards. Brady DeHaven became a two-time winner as his effort resulted in earning the men's PacWest Freshman of the Week honor. He partnered with Plendcio and others in the men's invitational, leading the Eagles' to a 10th-place finish and posting an 8k time of 25:01.3 (a new season-best).

Finally, Emily Ransom earned her first weekly honors of the season by pacing the Biola team effort in the women's 6k open race. She ran a 21:58.8 to finish eighth overall in the 240-woman open race. Ransom was rewarded for her effort with the title of PacWest Runner of the Week.

He time converts to the third-best this season by any Biola runner and is her new season-best. Ransom led the Biola women to a team time of 1:53.22.5 and a fourth-place finish in the 23-team field.

Biola Cross Country is back in action this weekend for its final regular season competition. The Eagles compete at the CSU Fullerton Titan Invitational on Friday, Oct. 9.
