Stellar Sierra Honored Again

Sierra Bauder hits the lights out to earn conference player of the week.

October 01, 2018

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- For the second time in a three-week stretch Sierra Bauder is the PacWest Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. It's the third-consecutive week the Eagles' middle blocker has been recognized by the PacWest, as last week she earned Defender of the Week honors.

"Sierra continues to impress all of us with her ability to be efficient in all situations," said Head Coach Aaron Seltzer. "She's been for sure our most consistent attacker and she's continuing to do what she's been doing all year. Her connection with Brinley has been great and we're excited for her."

Bauder was incredible in leading Biola to a pair of victories over Concordia University Irvine and Fresno Pacific this past week. In the two matches (7 sets), she recorded 20 kills and hit a blistering .714. Her hitting percentage was nearly .200 points better than the next-best player in the conference, who also happened to be an Eagle.

Bauder is up over 150 kills for the season and bettered her PacWest-leading season hitting percentage to .463 with her effort this week. For the season, she's hitting almost .050 better than any other player in the conference. Second is Azusa Pacific's star middle, Julianne Miller.

Bauder added eight blocks to her season total this week to keep her top-5 in the conference in blocks. She's also top-10 in kills.

She's the only player in the conference to have won Volleyball Player of the Week more than once this year.

She and her teammates have a big week ahead of them as they host Azusa Pacific (FREE CHICK-FIL-A) on Wednesday night and Dominican on Friday night.
