LINCOLN, Calif. --- Head Coach Ryan Kauth added more competitive fire and determined spirit to Biola's 2018 recruiting class with the signing of mid-distance freestyler Annie Bristow.

The Lincoln, California native will enroll at Biola this September after starting the swim program at Western Sierra Collegiate Academy with her sister, Lauren. After four years of swimming for the Wolves, Bristow holds the school record in five freestyle distances, with her best events being the 200 and 500 free.

Most recently. Bristow placed fifth in the 200 free at the Sac-Joaquin Section CIF Championships and sixth in the 500 free.

"Annie has already achieved times that qualify her for the NCAA Division II Championships," said Kauth. "I think that she will continue to improve under our training and guidance and be a role-model for the team as soon as she arrives. She is a fierce competitor, who brings a lot to the Eagles' Class of 2018. "

Bristow also pursued her academics as fiercely as one could, earning Scholar-Athlete recognition and appearing on the Presidential Honor Roll after maintaining a 4.0 GPA in high school. She also studied Mandarin in high school for three years and plans to take steps toward working as trade specialist  in China by majoring in International Business at Biola.

"I believe Jesus led me to this school both academically and athletically," said Bristow. "My best friend from high school encouraged me from day one to go here and visiting Biola on a recruit trip just affirmed my beliefs that this school was the right fit for me. The team was very welcoming and I'm excited to start my journey with Biola's swim program!"

Bristow will start classes at Biola in September.
