SANTA ROSA, Calif. --- The Eagles made incremental improvements to their scores in the final round of the Sonoma State Invitational on Tuesday. Their final round team score of 329 helped them maintain 12^th place in the field and increased their margin over 13^th place Menlo College to 17 strokes. 

"The scores got away from us. Most players had a better start and middle but the end was hard to watch," said Head Coach Max Allen. "You see a player grind all day to get a good score and then one or two holes change everything." 

The Chico State Wildcats were the wire-to-wire winner of the two-day competition. They were the only team to finish with a total score under 900 and claimed the two golfers at the top of the individual standings after three rounds.

Austin Bishop and Parker Buck finished one-two for Biola and landed within the top-50 overall. Buck (245 total) carded the best round on Tuesday with an even 80 strokes while Bishop (244 total) played the Eagles' best round of the tournament with a 77 in round one. 
 

Austin Bishop was 4 over with four holes to play and finished at 10 over. But his short game was astounding this tournament," said Allen. "He looked like a tour player and he deserved a better number next to his name."

Senior Tristan Ginkel demonstrated the largest personal improvement on Tuesday, cutting off 11 strokes from his second time through the course. Four of the five Eagles competing in the tournament had better scores on Tuesday than they did in the second round.

Biola concluded the tournament with an team average of 328 strokes per round.  

The Eagles next competition is scheduled for Oct. 9 and 10. They will travel to Prescott, Arizona to participate in the ERAU Co-ed Invite
