SOUTH GATE, Calif. --- The 2017 Collegiate Winter Invite continued on Saturday at the South Gate Swim Stadium. It was day two of three for Head Coach Ryan Kauth's squad and it was just as positive as the first time out.
 
"Going into today I told the swimmers to ride the momentum from the night before and to keep their foot on the gas pedal," said Kauth. "They really rose to the occasion with great swims throughout the day and night. We put ourselves in good position to do some really great things in finals."
 
The Eagles had eight individuals qualify for carious finals events as three women swam in the 100-breaststroke, three in the 100-backstroke and two men secured a place in the 200-freestyle.
 
In addition to those swimmers, many others qualified for the consolation final. The Eagles were primed for many points during the second day of the competition, resulting in the women's side sitting in second after the second day with 1,134 total points and the men's team in fourth with 695 total points.
 
"The swimmers showed just how driven they were tonight," said Kauth. "From top-3 finishes to new school records it was a really special night for us."
 
The new school record came in the women's 100-breaststroke where Lisa Tixier finished second overall and swam a 1:04.29. She broke the previous school record belonged to her older sister, Christine Tixier, at 1:04.93.
 
"I could not be more proud of Lisa and the work she has put into this season," said Kauth. "She has been disciplined unlike any other swimmer I've coached in her pursuit of perfection. I'm excited to see the continued improvement in training and what she'll be capable of accomplishing at the end of the season."
 
Tixier was also a part of the Eagles' 200-medley relay team that earned a five-second victory over the rest of the field with a 1:47.66. It was Biola's third relay win of the meet. The men's side also earned a top-3 finish as Matthew Roe, Raymond Kam, Daniel Vale and Tom Franicevich finished third with a 1:36.89.
 
The 100-butterfly was a great event for Biola. Tixier earned an individual victory in the women's race with a :55.30 and Kam placed third, seven-tenths of a second behind the winner, with a :51.45. Those same two swimmers both finished second overall in the 100-breaststroke.
 
Rachel Stinchcomb represented the ladies in the 100-backstroke finals and finished just 18-hundredths of a second behind the event winner to earn herself a second-place finish. She swam a :59.77.
 
Competition is already underway for the final day of competition. The Eagles will compete at their final finals beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
