PRESCOTT, Ariz. --- Biola Men's Golf headed out to Prescott, Arizona on Monday for its second tournament of the year.

All five competitors chosen by Head Coach Max Allen tied their season-best or set new marks for a two-round score at the ERAU Co-Ed Invitational. And the Eagles sit within eight strokes of four other teams ahead of them with one more round to play on Tuesday.

Biola was tied for third after the first round thanks to strong playthroughs from Samuel Shih and Austin Bishop. Competing in his first tournament of the year, Shih posted the best round any Eagle has had so far this season by finishing with an even 71 strokes. Bishop was not far behind at +3 after 18 holes, helping Biola to a 301 team-total after the first round.

"We had two great starts from Sam and Austin," said Allen. "Both were under par during their first round, and even though they ended up giving a couple back, they were top performers in the windy conditions."

Bishop stayed sharp in the second round with a score of 76. His total of 150 for the first two rounds was a team-best and places him in a tie for 13th, just three strokes outside of the top-10  in the individual leaderboard. Shih finished one stroke behind Bishop at 151 while Parker Buck sits in tie for 32nd (156) after shaving two strokes off his first round score.

"Cameron Bauer was having the round of the day in the second round till a triple bogey on his second to last hole diminished his efforts, said Allen. "I'm still proud of the way he played. He hit some fantastic shots from the trees and dirt to save par."

The Eagles finished with a team-total of 611 after two rounds.

"As a team we were disappointed in the second round," said Allen. "We all knew we were capable of more after the first and for our scores to go up gives us a chip on our shoulder for tomorrow."
 
Play in the nine-team tournament resumes at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow for the final round.
