OAKLAND, Calif. --- The Biola Swim & Dive season continued with the team's first away meet on Friday up in the Bay Area. The Eagles spent day one of two at Mills College competing in a quad meet with Mills, College of Idaho and CSU East Bay.

The men went head-to-head with College of Idaho, which was the only other men's team there. The women had to compete with each of the three other schools.

This meet is one of those unique times when the team really has to be laser focused to be able to sharp and ready to swim. They left La Mirada on a bus at 5:00 a.m. on Friday and virtually hopped off the bus and right into the pool.

"After an early wake up and long drive the swimmers came out very competitive and ready to race," said Head Coach Ryan Kauth. "I was very proud at the way they celebrated their successful races and remained poised after the races that didn't go as well."

As a whole the Biola swim program went 2-2 on the day in head-to-head competition with the women's team earning victories over College of Idaho (127-66) and Mills College (150-43).

The Eagles got standout performances from Lisa Tixier and Emily Silzel who each won two individual events and were part of Biola's winning 200-medley relay.

Tixier won the 50-freestyle by just about a half-second (:24.44) and then went out of the box a bit and earned the victory in the 500-freestyle by two seconds (5:12.89). Silzel finished first, in front of four CSU East Bay swimmers, in the 200-freestyle (1:55.69) and then had a nearly two second buffer in the 100-freestyle win (:53.69).

The guys team also had their own bunch of winners who were able to take down all the Yotes. Jake Allen grabbed a victory in the 1,000-freestyle (10:12.69). He edged out Graham Williams of College of Idaho to earn his first collegiate event win. Raymond Kam continued a hot start after having a strong freshman season with his win in the 100-breaststroke (:59.94) today.

"There was definitely some stiff competition with teams like Cal State East Bay in attendance, but we've made a point this season to ignore the logo on our competitors caps and just race with the mentality that we can swim with anyone," said Kauth.

Kauth pointed out Sammy Dammann, Thomine Mortensen, Jenny London and Matthew Roe as other standout performers from today's action. Click the link above to see their full results.

The Eagles are back in action in Mills' pool on Saturday as they compete in the annual Bay Area Invitational meet.

"We came away with some very fast times," said Kauth "Overall, it was a successful meet and it has us confident going into tomorrow's invitational."
