PRESCOTT, Ariz. --- For the first time since September 2015 Biola Women's Golf can claim the title of tournament champions in a multi-team field. The Eagles shot an astounding final round of 300 on Tuesday to win the 2017 Embry-Riddle Co-Ed Invitational Championship.
 
All five Eagles carded rounds in the 70s and the team once again set a new single round program record. The 300 team score was eight strokes better than any other individual round in the history of the program. The team could've used any combination of four of five scores on this day and it still would've been good enough for the record. They were that good.
 
The team held a two-stroke lead entering today's final round of play, but ended up winning the tournament title by a whole 15 strokes over the event host Embry-Riddle. The Eagles had a final team score of 924 (+60), which is a new team record for three-round tournament score. It smashes the old best score of 967 set in 2015.
 
Tori Roeske won the individual tournament title. She becomes the second two-time tournament champion in program history. She tied for first with Jenny Zhang at the 2016 ACU Firestorm Fall Invite to win her last title.
 
Roeske shot a final round of 73 to lock in the win. She combined yesterday's 77 and 75 to this score and ended the tournament just nine strokes over par. Her final score was one stroke lower than teammate Jules Loibl, who shot a 74 today and ended play at 10-over. The two Biola Eagles sat alone at one and two with no other school having a golfer hit better than 11-over. This is part of the reason BU ended with such a large advantage.
 
The third-best score on the final day belonged to freshman Sophia Karnazes. Sophia, playing in her first collegiate golf tournament, set another exciting program mark for coach Carr when she scored the first-ever tournament hole-in-one for the Eagles. Karnazes found the cup on hole six of the course and compiled 17 other strong holes to shoot her best round of the tournament at 76. She would finish tied for 14^th at 26-over overall. Her first round was 10 strokes higher than her finishing round, which bodes well.
 
Sandwiched in between the top two and Karnazes was Marcel Manalo and Alexis Gopfert. Manalo made it three Eagles in the top-10 as she placed eighth at 20-over. She also shot her best round of the tournament on Tuesday, improving from 79 to 77 in the early morning round.
 
Gopfert dropped four strokes from last night's round and carded a 78 to close out her tournament. Her 81, 82 and 78 combined for a 241 (+25) to have her tie for 12^th at one stroke better than Karnazes.
 
The Eagles recently canceled one of their fall events to make more room for studies and practice leading up to their next competition. That competition is an important one as Biola will have a chance to compete for the NCCAA National Championship in Palm Coast, Florida from Oct. 23-25.
