Biola Moves Up On Tuesday

The Eagles moved up a spot in the standings at the ERAU Co-Ed Invite with strong performances all around.

October 10, 2017

PRESCOTT, Ariz. --- Biola Men's Golf improved on its best round of the year during Tuesday's play at the ERAU Co-Ed Invite.

Austin Bishop finished tied for 10th in the individual leaderboard while Cameron Bauer and Dominic Ariondo both had their best playthrough of the tournament in the final round on the way to a 298 team score for the Eagles.

That total was three strokes better than the Eagles' total in the first round and helped Biola move up a spot in the team standings to seventh overall with a 909 overall score.

"Today was about reversing the trend of increasing scores," said Head Coach Max Allen. "Our second round dropped us 5 spots which did not sit well with how well we knew the course and hit the ball."

Bishop was just one stroke over par in his 18 holes on Tuesday and moved up three spots on the individual leaderboard. Samuel Shih had the second-best round and the second-best finish for the Eagles after he followed first round score of 71 with a 75 on Tuesday.

"Austin was having the round of the day; he was 4-under his first dozen holes which included an eagle," said Allen. "He had a couple miscues coming in which gave him a solid round but a sour taste afterwards. He'll learn from this one which is all he can do."

Bauer and Ariondo also moved up a bunch of spots and both finished tied for 37th after they moved up seven and six places, respectively.

"Cam and Dom both improved on the previous day," said Allen. "They limited the damage on some tough holes and really owned the front nine, especially Cam who shot even on that side. We're seeing pieces of great performances but we need to string it together for 3 days."

The Eagles will head to the Los Serranos Country Club for their next competition. They will face off with the Hope International Royals in a scrimmage on Oct. 19.
