Box Score IRVINE, Calif. --- First David slayed Goliath, then U.S. ice hockey took down the Soviets in the 1980 Olympics, and then the 2007 New york Giants took down the undefeated New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, now No. 22 Biola took down No. 12 Concordia on their home turf.
 
OK, maybe it is not that big of an upset, but it was a huge accomplishment for Biola. BU ended CUI's nine game winning streak and 17 game home winning streak, and put the first blemish on CUI's undefeated Golden State Athletic Conference record with a 3-0 win on Saturday.
 
Biola came out and immediately overpowered Concordia's squad on their own senior day. It was a sophomore and junior that got the job done for Biola, as Joey O'Keefe and Stephen Day knocked in two goals in the first 14 minutes and 48 seconds to put BU up 2-0.
 
O'Keefe opened the scoring with his third goal in the last two games and his sixth of the season. His free kick in the tenth minute went into the top of the goal, and would eventually be the game-winner for the Eagles who picked up a shutout behind the two saves from JT Addington.
 
Day's goal was his first of the season and the first of his career as an Eagle. He is an assist machine, who leads BU with five on the year, but he got a taste of the life of a scorer with a sweet one touch nested into the back of the goal.
 
Biola was able to neutralize any sort of offensive attack from Concordia, giving up just two shots on target and only nine total shots in the 90 minutes of conference competition.
 
The Eagles gritty defense was key in their ability to turn the ball around and find the net three times against one of the top teams in the nation. Ryan Cooley, Scott Hayes, Kevin Kiser and Michael Kute each did their part to ensure BU's defensive supremacy.
 
The shot selection made all the difference for Biola today, as they trumped Concordia with 18 shots, but also had eight shots on target.
 
John Hanscom took three of those shots, and found paydirt when he netted a boncer off the crossbar and in from the far left in the 65^th minute. Hanscom has been shooting the ball a lot all season long, third on the squad with 30 shots and fourth with three goals.
 
The win gives BU a 1-1 record against Concordia this season, following up a 1-2 loss at Al Barbour field earlier in conference play. Biola has at least one win or tie against CUI in every season since 2009.
 
Biola improves to 11-3-1 (5-3 GSAC) and slides up to third place in the conference. They sit behind Concordia (10-4, 7-1 GSAC) and San Diego Christian (12-2-2, 5-1-2).
 
The Eagles look to improve their win streak to 4-0 when they host Arizona Christian on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. It will be senior day for the Eagles.
