Hawked Up

The Eagles dropped their third GSAC contest of the year after a late San Diego Christian score.

John Hanscom, Stephen Day and Daniel Chew connected for a score, but it was not enough for BU to get the win.
Box Score EL CAJON, Calif. --- After an early in-conference rough patch, it seemed as if the No. 18 Eagles were back on track after their high scoring offense put up big numbers in a 4-1 win over Westmont in their last game.

That news did not get back to San Diego Christian who overcame an early tally by the Eagles to get their second conference win of the season with two second half scores.

Daniel Chew continued to be the man with the golden foot for the eagles as he picked up the first goal of the game, and his fourth of the last two games, in the third minute of the second half.

The senior forward received a cross pass from Stephen Day and tipped the ball into the back of the net for his team-leading 11th score of the year.

Immediately following the goal San Diego Christian began to expand their attack and take advantage of more opportunities on the offensive end. The Hawks had three good looks at the goal within the 13 minutes following Chew's tally.

The third of those opportunities found the net and knotted the game after the SDC forward chipped the ball in from 20 yards out.

The Hawks continued to dominate possession and controlled the ball in their offensive zone for most of the second half, and the consistent offensive pressure paid off in the 86th minute when Juan Valdiva picked up a second tally for the Hawks off a ball the Eagles couldn't get cleared from the box.

No shots came from either side after the go-ahead goal by SDC, and the Eagles fell to 8-3-1 after their third Golden State Athletic Conference loss of the year.

SDC led the match in nearly all categories, including goals, shots, shots on goal, corner kicks and yellow cards as they picked up their ninth win of the season to improve to 9-2-2 (2-1-2 GSAC).

Biola travels to Costa Mesa to play Vanguard on Saturday at 3 p.m.
