Biola Stuns Fresno Pacific, 2-0

Jacob Ravenscraft

FRESNO, Calif. --- Biola snapped a seven-match winless-streak versus Fresno Pacific and picked up a big conference win with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday night in a GSAC match on Ramirez Field in Fresno.

The Eagles improve to 6-7-1 overall and to 4-3-0 in GSAC play while dropping the Sunbirds to 8-5-0, 5-2-0 in conference action.

Biola wasted no time getting on the board in the match as senior Jacob Ravenscraft scored the opening goal in the third minute. Zach Bautista took the early corner kick and sent it into the box to Jared Fenlason. Fenlason then flicked it right to Ravenscraft who fired it point-blank into the back of the net.

The Eagles would add another tally in the 40th minute as freshman Kenny Anderson streaked down the far side, sent a nice cross into the box where senior Kennedy Chongo headed it home to put Biola up 2-0.

From there, the Eagles' defense took over, holding Fresno to just six shots the rest of the way with only one ending up on goal.

Junior goalkeeper Aaron Fenlason picked up his second-straight shutout and his sixth of the season in the victory.

The win is just the first by Biola over Fresno Pacific since the 2002 season, a stretch of seven games which the Eagles have gone 0-6-1 in. The victory also moves the Eagles into sole possession of fifth place, just just three points back of Fresno Pacific and Vanguard and four behind second-place Azusa Pacific.

Biola plays its penultimate home match this Saturday (Oct. 23), hosting Point Loma Nazarene in another key matchup. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
