BOX SCORE

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Senior forward Humberto Toscan had two of Biola's six goals, assisting on another, as the Eagles flew away with a 6-0 win over San Diego Christian College in a GSAC match Saturday afternoon on Al Barbour Field.

With the win, Biola is off to their best start in school history improving to 6-0-0 overall, 1-0-0 in GSAC play. San Diego Christian drops to 3-4-0, 0-1-0 in conference play.

Toscan highlighted an all-around attack by the Eagles that saw them control the ball and the scoreboard throughout the match.

The Eagles started the scoring in just the third minute of the game as sophomore midfielder Zach Bautista weaved though traffic from the left side before finding Toscan for the lightning fast tap in and the early lead.

The Hawks' best opportunity came in the 39th minute later when Emmanuel Onywera slipped past the Eagles' defense and was left with just Biola's sophomore keeper Aaron Fenalson to beat. But Biola returned to help their netminder, forcing Onywera to act quickly and fire a shot that Fenalson was able to deflect away from the goal and toward midfield to stop the threat.

From there, Biola took over. The Eagles began peppering San Diego Christian's goalie Christopher Cozzi with shots.

With time expiring in the first half, senior defender Shalom Bako led the charge navigating through traffic down the left side of the endline, dishing to senior forward Joshua-Paul Robles alone in the box for another quick goal.

The Eagles controlled the first half, out shooting the Hawks 11-1.

In the 49th minute, Toscan led the break right down the middle of the field that sent the Hawks' defense retreating. Toscan placed a perfect pass leading sophomore forward Marco Ruvalcaba past all defenders before he beat Cozzi with a shot to the left of the keeper for a three goal lead.

Later in the 74th minute, Bako worked his magic from the end line for a second time, this time setting up Graham Foster for the tap in to widen the margin.

Just six minutes later, Kennedy Chongo followed Bako's pattern and found senior forward Derek Friehe in front of the net for another score.

Biola finally capped the offensive onslaught in the 89th minute. Following a free kick, Tony Montalvo placed the ball on the near post for Toscan who flicked it in for his second goal.

Over the match, Biola out shot the Hawks 25-4 only needing Fenalson to record two saves for his sixth consecutive clean sheet to start the season.

Biola's 6-0 record marks the schools best start just a year after beginning 5-0. This season the Eagles have outscored their opponents 29-0.

Biola returns to action on Wednesday (Sept. 30), hitting the road for the first time in over a month, traveling to Riverside to face California Baptist in a pivotal conference match-up at 4:00 p.m.
