SAN DIEGO --- Sophomore Zach Bautista scored the match's lone goal in the 19th minute and the Biola defense helped it stand up as the Eagles held on for a 1-0 win over Point Loma Nazarene in a GSAC match on Saturday afternoon in San Diego.

Biola, which entered the week ranked No. 11 in the latest NAIA National Rankings, improves to 11-2-1 on the season and to 6-1-1 in conference play. The Eagles continue to control their own destiny in the GSAC race, needing to just win their final two matches to claim their second-ever conference crown. The Sea Lions drop to 3-10-1 overall and to 2-6-1 in the GSAC.

The match got off to a strong start for Point Loma Nazarene, which controlled play early and recorded five shots in the first 18 minutes. However, after the fifth shot, the Eagles countered, forcing the Sea Lions to commit a foul just outside of the box. Biola set up for the indirect free kick which culminated in Bautista's blast past the PLNU keeper for the goal just 19 minutes into the match.

The two teams continued the see-saw battle the rest of the first half with neither side able to find the back of the net.

In the second half, Point Loma Nazarene came out firing, taking eight shots and putting five on frame. Each time, sophomore goalkeeper Aaron Fenlason came up huge, recording five of his six saves over the final 45 minutes to preserve the shutout. The cleansheet was Fenlason's 10th of the season, tying the single-season school record in that category.

Biola closes out the home portion of the regular season on Wednesday (Oct. 27), hosting Vanguard University in a GSAC match which begins at 7:00 p.m. The match is also the final regular season home match for the Biola seniors, who will be honored in a ceremony prior to the start of the match.
