Biola's Season Ends With 4-0 Loss to Point Loma

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Biola University's postseason run came to an end with a 4-0 loss to Point Loma Nazarene University in the semifinals of NAIA Region II Softball Tournament on Wednesday at John C. Funk Stadium in Riverside.

Biola's ends its season with a 26-25 record while Point Loma, ranked No. 2 in the NAIA polls, advances to the regional championship game with a 43-8 record.

The Eagles were led by senior Sarah Jensen, who recorded two hits in three at bats in her final collegiate game. Freshman Erica Moyer got the start and pitched well, allowing just three runs on five hits over six innings.

The Sea Lions struck early with a run in the first as Paige Powell hit a solo homer with two outs in the bottom of the first. They would add another run in the fourth on an RBI-single by Tyler Lent.

Point Loma then scored a run in each of the final two innings to seal the game.

Lent picked up the win, allowed just four hits while striking out three over seven innings.

Biola, which was the No. 3 seed in the tournament, won seven of its final nine games to reach the regional tournament for the fourth-straight season and seventh time in the last nine years. The Eagles have won at least one game in each of the last four tournaments despite not being ranked higher than No. 3 in any of them.
