LA MIRADA, Calif. — Thanks to a strong finish to the regular season, No. 19 Biola University will be making its fourth-straight trip to the NAIA Region II Softball Tournament as the No. 3 seed and opens up the three-day tournament against No. 2 Point Loma Nazarene on Tuesday, May 6.

The tournament will be hosted by California Baptist University and runs May 6-8 at the John C. Funk Softball Stadium in Riverside. The Lancers are the tournament's No. 1 seed and are also the top-ranked team in the NAIA.

Cal State San Marcos, which surprised the regional with a 27-17 overall record in just its second season as a varsity program, rounds out the field as the No. 4 seed.

Biola wrapped up the regular season last week with a 25-23 overall record, tying for third in the GSAC at 11-13. The Eagles closed out the year by winning seven of their last nine games.

The Eagles open the double-elimination tournament against No. 2 Point Loma Nazarene on Tuesday at 11:00 p.m. The Sea Lions are ranked No. 2 the national NAIA rankings and are 41-7 overall and 21-4 in GSAC play. Biola is one of just two teams to defeat Point Loma in GSAC play and the only team to score nine runs on the Sea Lions all season. The Eagles beat PLNU 9-4 in La Mirada earlier this year.

Biola will be making its fourth-straight trip to the NAIA Regional Tournament and their seventh in the last four seasons. The Eagles won the tournament in 2002 and are one of just two GSAC teams to defeat Point Loma Nazarene this season.
