RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Biola snapped a seven-match losing-streak and earned its first victory of the season with a 6-3 win at La Sierra University in a non-conference match on Friday.
The Eagles improve to 1-7 on the season.
Biola open the match with a pair of wins in doubles competition. Joel Huibregtse and Dan Westman combined for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles while Justin Mart and Alex Quan earned an 8-0 sweep at No. 3 doubles.
In the singles competition, Biola took four of the six matches led by a strong performance at No. 2 singles by Tyler Jung. Jung held on for a 7-6 win in his first set, then cruised to a 6-1 win in the second set.
At No. 4 Joel Huibregtse battled for a three-set win, winning 6-2, falling 6-1 in the second, but rebounded with a 6-4 win in the third to win the match.
Dan Westman cruised to an easy win at No. 5 singles, winning 6-0, 6-3. Ryan Adams then came roaring back to take the No. 6 singles match. Adams lost 6-0 in the first set before winning the second and third 7-5 and 6-4 to win the match.
Biola returns to action against the University of La Verne on Saturday (Mar. 8) at 11:00 a.m. at the Biola Tennis Center.
