RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Biola's women's tennis team picked up its second win in three matches on Tuesday with a 9-0 sweep over La Sierra University in a non-conference match in Riverside.

The Eagles move to 2-7 on the year with the victory while the Golden Eagles fall to 1-4.

Biola opened the day with a sweep of the doubles matches, including a pair of tight matches at No. 1 and No. 3. At No. 1s, Christine Garner and Nicholle Johnson came back from a 6-3 deficit including fighting off three match points for a 9-7 win over Rebecca Roquis and Niiang Mung. It was a similar story at No. 3s where Sarah Snyder and Kelli Shiroma trailed 7-6 before winning the final three games for a 9-7 victory.

The other doubles match was won easily by Marisa Flores and Kristen Williams by a score of 8-0.

Garner had little trouble winning at No. 1 singles, beating Roquis 6-1, 6-2. Nicholle Johnson dropped the first game at No. 2 singles 7-5 to Mung, but came back with a 6-3 win in the second game and won the tiebreaker 10-5 to take the match.

Williams picked up a 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 3 with Flores putting on a dominating performance at No. 4 singles to win 6-0, 6-1. Snyder earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 and Shiroma won in straight sets at No. 6 by a score of 6-0, 6-0.

Biola returns to the courts on Friday hosting Whittier College at 2:00 p.m.
